How to see whether your ferret is sick?

• If it sneezes : that can come from dust. If it is not in a dusty environment, one will think rather of a respiratory infection.

• If it vomits: that can come from what the ferret to be eaten while ferreting  everywhere, or of a change of food. If that does not come from that, it will be necessary to take along the ferret in the veterinary surgeon.

• If it has the diarrhoea: change its food. Give him nothing any more but croquettes, and if after 24 hours, it always has the diarrhoea, take along it in the veterinary surgeon, without forgetting to take a sample of saddles.

• If he does not want to eat any more: check the correct operation of the feeding-bottle, then try to change the mark of the food. Always put to him water at his disposal. If after 24 hours it still does not eat, take along it in the veterinary surgeon.

• If it is scraped: either there is presence of parasites which it will be necessary to treat with product for cats. That is to say its skin is too dry and one will look after it with a hydrating balsam.

• If it loses its hairs: that can come from the moult, in spring and the autumn. If that occurs apart from the seasons moults or of a close childbirth, contact your veterinary surgeon.

• If the sterilized female has the inflated vulva: the risks of infection are very serious and it will thus be necessary to consult a veterinary surgeon as quickly as possible.

• If it is weak: that can be due to a hypoglycemia, or a insulinomist, an anorexia... See your veterinary surgeon!
